Joseph Quinn Joseph Quinn graduated from Carmel High School with a strong interest in mathematics, and also in film and video art. I chose to attend Carnegie Mellon University for their strength in both the arts and the sciences. After two years, I'd decided to pursue a career in filmmaking, and transfered to Purchase College. After another two years there, I found a job as an editor for a demo commercial company in New Paltz, New York. Meanwhile, I created several independent short videos that were screened at various festivals around the United States, Canada, and England, and met a wide network of other artists. Ultimately, however, making money working in advertising did not sit well with me, and I decided to go back to mathematics to find a better career. I found that my skills were still sharp after a little brushing up, and I soon found myself at the top of my class at Hunter College in New York City, where as of now I'm maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I also discovered I have a talent for explaining mathematical concepts to people, securing a tutoring job at the college, and this is something I'd like to take further. Ultimately, I am interested in helping with math education in developing countries. I want to help provide students in struggling countries with an opportunity to apply their talents.more...
