Brinjac Engineering Names Environmental Specialist, Dr. Vikram M. Pattarkine, as Senior Vice President
(Harrisburg, PA) – Brinjac Engineering, one of Pennsylvania's largest and a leading engineering firm in the Mid-Atlantic region, is pleased to announce Dr. Vikram M. Pattarkine as the firm’s Senior Vice President responsible for expanding its environmental practice.
Dr. Pattarkine is a specialist in biological wastewater treatment, particularly biological nutrient removal, which is of critical concern in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Dr. Pattarkine has extensive experience in environmental engineering, project management, consulting, and research. Prior to joining Brinjac Engineering, Dr. Pattarkine was the Director of Process Engineering at one of the world’s leading firms in the design and manufacture of energy-efficient diffused aeration systems for wastewater treatment. There he participated in developing innovative processes for biological wastewater treatment, provided process troubleshooting guidance, and was involved with technology transfer to developing countries.

Dr. Pattarkine brings with him considerable international consulting experience. He has been an adviser to the Asian Development Bank on wastewater management and sanitation in developing countries of Asia. He has managed and participated in a number of complex, multi-disciplinary projects funded by multilateral donor agencies such as the World Bank, the Asian Development bank, and German and Japanese development agencies. He has conducted environmental assessments of a wide range of development projects in transportation, energy, industry, and urban infrastructure sectors.
Dr. Pattarkine holds a master’s in chemical engineering from India and has a doctorate in environmental engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA. Dr. Pattarkine is an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He also serves on the Water Environment Federation’s Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design Committee, the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star Program, and Pennsylvania Water Environment Association’s Research Committee. Dr. Pattarkine has conducted numerous workshops and courses, as well as authored various technical publications. He has served on the Water Environment Federation’s task force responsible for preparing a manual on nutrient control. He has also co-authored a handbook on environment statistics published by the Asian Development Bank. He has received several honors and awards including recognition as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
