Amir A. Khamis was born 1980 in Basra, Iraq; and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English language from Basra University in 2002. In 2004, Amir earned a Masters in English literature from Baghdad University. He is interested in Modern Drama, particularly Samuel Beckett's theatre: His MA thesis was an exploration of the strategy of the human body in his plays. Amir has been teaching Shakespearean and modern drama for three years at Basra. He worked with BBCWST as a researcher and media monitor. Moreover, he was a fixer and translator for many international newspapers in Basra, such as The Dallas Morning News, The New York Times, Fracfurter Allgemeine and NRC Handelsblad etc. In addition to his teaching at Basra U., he works as a media monitor for the ICRC in Iraq/Basra, Sub-Delegation.
