Professor David Hamilton Jones took his first degree at the London School of Economics, and his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at the University of London. His intersts lie mainly in economic, cultural and political geography. From broadcasting English lessons over Radio Moscow, to teaching in the Sudan, Nigeria, the Bahamas, the Universiity of the South Pacific, and at the University of Calgary, where he is now an emeritus associate professor of Geography, he stands as our exemplar of the peripatetic Iinternational Professor. David pioneered the development of field studies programs in geography at Calgary. Also an artist, David has excecuted commisions and painted independently in about 25 countries on six continents. He organized the Calgary Explorers Club, leading group visits to Southeast Asia, Central America, the Eastern Mediterranean, and several other spots on the globe. He has written many books. David is fluent in English and French, conversant in Spanish, with some knowledge of Arabic, Russian and, increasingly, Chinese.
